It's Cursed, I Tell Ya…
This story is most excellent.
The new Yankee Stadium may be cursed!
A devilish Boston fan working on a concrete crew at the $1.3 billion stadium covertly buried a Red Sox T-shirt under what will become the visiting team’s locker room to jinx the Yanks, two construction workers told The Post yesterday.
“In August, a Red Sox T-shirt was poured in a slab in the visitor’s clubhouse. It’s the curse of the Yankees,” one worker said. “Nobody knows about it. It’s in the floors, it’s buried.”
The workers say they now fear that they unwittingly helped hex their beloved Bronx Bombers.
“I don’t want to be responsible for sinking the franchise,” said a second worker, who witnessed the sabotage. “I respect the stadium.”

Rutland Weekend Television – "The Pirate Song"
Little did I know that back in 1975, Eric Idle of Monty Python had a television show called Rutland Weekend Television, a sketch show about “Britain’s smallest television network”. It was the inspiration for the brilliant Beatles spoof All You Need is Cash, featuring Eric Idle and Neil Innes (as well as John Halsey and Ricky Fataar) as the “pre-fab four”.
Here’s a fantastic video from the show featuring George Harrison of the Beatles performing “The Pirate Song”, which sounds very similar to another Harrison song…

Our reputation for flakiness is at stake
An excellent editorial by Carl Hiaasen in the February 17th Miami Herald.
Florida’s plucky refusal to embrace 21st century education is one reason that prestigious tech industries have avoided the state, allowing so many of our high-school graduates (and those who come close) to launch prosperous careers in the fast-food, bartending and service sectors of the economy.
By accepting evolution as a proven science, our top educators would be sending a loud message to the rest of the nation: Stop making fun of us.
Is that what we really want?

Spongebob Voice-Overs of Classic Movies
From Cartoon Brew:
One of the highlights of the Annie Awards last Friday night was a small video concocted by the cast of Spongebob Squarepants (M.C. Tom Kenny, along with presenters Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence and Bill Fagerbakke), created to prove they shouldn’t be stereotyped simply as Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward and Sandy.
