Massachusetts is the most tech savvy state, again

From Yahoo! Tech:

The Milken Institute’s 2008 State Technology and Science Index looked at five major areas before compiling the list below, which included the state’s ability to attract funding, skilled tech workers, and new businesses. Here is the list of the top ten most tech savvy states:

1. Massachusetts
2. Maryland
3. Colorado
4. California
5. Washington
6. Virginia
7. Connecticut
8. Utah
9. New Hampshire
10. Rhode Island

Massachusetts remains the “gold standard” for other states thanks to its institutions, cutting-edge firms, and ability to retain a skilled work force. Living up to its reputation, the state just passed a $1 billion life sciences bill to invest in high-tech infrastructure over the next 10 years, which puts it in the best position to achieve high economic growth from its technology assets, according to the Milken Institute study.

It's Cursed, I Tell Ya…

This story is most excellent.

The new Yankee Stadium may be cursed!

A devilish Boston fan working on a concrete crew at the $1.3 billion stadium covertly buried a Red Sox T-shirt under what will become the visiting team’s locker room to jinx the Yanks, two construction workers told The Post yesterday.

“In August, a Red Sox T-shirt was poured in a slab in the visitor’s clubhouse. It’s the curse of the Yankees,” one worker said. “Nobody knows about it. It’s in the floors, it’s buried.”

The workers say they now fear that they unwittingly helped hex their beloved Bronx Bombers.

“I don’t want to be responsible for sinking the franchise,” said a second worker, who witnessed the sabotage. “I respect the stadium.”

I don’t agree with the 9/11 conspiracy stuff, but he’s on target with the rest.

Rutland Weekend Television – "The Pirate Song"

Little did I know that back in 1975, Eric Idle of Monty Python had a television show called Rutland Weekend Television, a sketch show about “Britain’s smallest television network”. It was the inspiration for the brilliant Beatles spoof All You Need is Cash, featuring Eric Idle and Neil Innes (as well as John Halsey and Ricky Fataar) as the “pre-fab four”.

Here’s a fantastic video from the show featuring George Harrison of the Beatles performing “The Pirate Song”, which sounds very similar to another Harrison song…
