Liberty is slipping away…

Now that the Anti-terrorism Bill has been signed into law, I think we all need to remember the words of Ben Franklin:

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Some Music Suggestions

For those of you looking for some great music by bands you’ve (most likely) never heard of before, check out:

  • Djam Karet – think Pink Floyd mixed with Tangerine Dream and King Crimson.
  • Porcupine Tree – these guys have been my favorite band for a few years now.
  • Ozric Tentacles – great psyche/prog jam rock. Actually, they sound similar to Djam Karet now that I think about it…
  • Spock’s Beard – excellent musicians, excellent vocalists, excellent song writers. They’ve taken pop-oriented prog to new levels.

Tommy turns 3

My son Tommy turned 3 today. Wow, three years old. Time really flies. I asked him how old he was, and he replied, “Hmmmm…3…months!”.

I think he knows exactly how old he is and he’s just pulling Daddy’s leg. :-)

Blowing a wad of cash

We’ve been having some masonry work done in our front yard over the past two weeks. Our front lawn is very steep, and there wasn’t much to it – just grass and a pathetic attempt at growing a magnolia. So, seeing how the economy is in a downward spiral and I’m working for a start-up company that has yet to make any money, we decided to blow a wad of cash on landscaping.

The work was done by Stearns Stone Works, and they did an amazing job. The masons were a great group of guys, who, it turns out, are all also actors. Derek Stearns, the owner of the company, is an accomplished actor and acting teacher.

If anyone is looking for a masonry company and/or acting company, they come highly recommended!

Tourist of Death

Speaking of doctored photos, I’m sure by now just about everyone that has access to the Internet has seen the picture of the guy on the WTC observation deck with the plane coming right at him.

It’s obviously a fake – a winter coat in September in NY? I don’t think so…

Over the past few weeks, the craze of doctoring this photo in new and exciting ways has started on the Internet. My favorite:

It was only a matter of time until a web site popped up to host all of these pics. Check out Tourist of Death.
